Training for Philmont....

First workout will be at the Williamson Rec Center in Franklin on Thursday March 17 at 5:30pm.  Scouts, your parents must come in to register you this first time.  Cost is $3.00 per visit.  We plan to do this every Thursday. It would probably be worth your while to purchase a 5 visit card for $13.00.
It's good anytime and for anyone.

Our first prepatory hike will be Saturday, March 19th at 7:00am at Radnor Lake.  Expect the hike to take about 2.5 hours.  Bring a backpack with 25% of your body weight; no more than 35 lbs.  Less is ok.  We're just starting out.  The trail is 5 miles and has two good altitude changes.

First Aid & CPR is Saturday, April 2nd.  Cost is $35.00 We must have at least two people in each crew trained.  The first 12 to sign up and pay will go.

Our next backpacking trip is to Big South Fork: April 8 -10.  Each crew will organize their own food and supplies.

Each crew must assign a Crew Leader for each of the upcoming backpacking trips and they must come up with an interesting crew name.  I believe my crew will be the "slugs" but we'll see what our Crew Leader decides.  If possible, try to come up with a trail mascot who will participate in our
adventure.

Suggestions for our Yard Sale money were: another high adventure shirt, Philmont shirt, Philmont belt.  I'll look into some costs and we'll see what makes sense.

Call or e-mail if you have any question.
